Why did I decide to create this checklist?
Andrei Baklinau, The maker of the Ecommerce Conversion Checklist
Hi guys,

I'm already working with e-commerce stores for almost 5 years, and within that period, I did around 1000+ A/B tests on 7-8 figure stores, which increased their sales 2-3X times.

After that, I realized that most of the problems that drive down sales and conversions on e-commerce stores are pretty similar. And based on these 1000+ A/B test results, I can create a simple and understandable checklist that any store owner, marketer, or designer can use.

After several months of content writing (250+ pages, around 400 screenshots from stores), I created a 108-point checklist with actionable guidelines.

I have used these guidelines for each of my clients and helped grow to 7-8 figure businesses. I think that it's really a must-have for e-commerce owners and marketers.

Of course, these are just the best practices that worked for my clients, and it doesn't necessarily mean that all of them work for absolutely all e-commerce stores. But I am convinced that these guidelines will work great for the vast majority. Anyway, it's a good foundation to start with and avoid critical problems that most e-commerce stores have nowadays.

How to use the Ecommerce Checklist?

Follow these step-by-step recommendations to get the most value from the e-commerce guidelines.
  • 1
    Read the guidelines on the website or in the Chrome Extension
  • 2
    Go to your store and open relevant type of pages (product, cart, homepage, category)
    I recommend starting from the most important pages: product and cart pages. These pages usually have the most problems and can have a significant impact on the overall performance.
  • 3
    Choose a category of guidelines on the website or in the Chrome Extension
    If you are on a product page, then choose product page guidelines. If you are on a cart page, then choose cart page guidelines and so on.
  • 4
    Go through the list one by one and check if you meet a guideline
    If you don't meet a guideline or are not sure about it, click on the "Read more" button to see more details.

    Each detailed guideline contains:
    - Explanation of the problem and why it's important;
    - Bad and good examples fo reference;
    - Actionable recommendations for implementation;
    - Useful resources to Shopify apps, additional information, etc.;

    Important: Detailed guidelines are available only in Paid version of the Checklist
  • 5
    Follow recommendations and implement changes
    The most important part of the process!

    If you see a problem, you should fix it. Often you can do that yourself. If that's not the case, ask or hire a developer to do that.
  • 6
    Enjoy increased revenue and conversions!
    Based on my conversion rate optimization experience, if you follow at least all the recommendations from the checklist, it should improve the performance of your store (of course, considering that you get quality traffic to the website)

I made them free on purpose so that you can see what you get after purchasing access to all the detailed guidelines.
Product Page Guideline #5:
Does the product gallery show thumbnails of other available images?
If the product gallery contains 2+ images, you should clearly show that to motivate users to browse product images. The more they engaged, the easier it to persuade them to buy.
Cart Page Guideline #10:
Do you clearly show that shoppers can pay with installments, and how much will it be per month?
It became trendy to offer payments by installments in the last years, making it easier for shoppers to buy expensive products without big one-time spendings. It's especially very relevant for stores that are selling high-priced items.
Category Page Guideline #17:
Do you have CTA-button to motivate users to go further into the funnel?
CTA buttons perform a two-faced task: guide the shoppers on what's needed to be done next and taking them down the conversion funnel. That's why you should consider adding CTA-button into the product category listing that will motivate users to click on it.
Homepage guideline #3:
Do you follow the visual hierarchy on the homepage (especially on the top part)?
The right visual hierarchy makes page design simple and straightforward for shoppers. But the most important thing is that it allows directing users to where you need to. If you want to get attention to certain elements (CTA-button, value proposition, offer, product, etc.), make it big, use contrasting colors, and a lot of white-space around it.
Why do you need these detailed guidelines?
Standard Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) audit with a list of actionable recommendations starts from $1000. I do such CRO audits of Shopify stores for $2500+ depending on the complexity of a website.

It's too much for many Shopify owners, marketers, designers, and developers to pay for a Basic audit. That's why I created a 108-point checklist with guidelines.

These guidelines are a pretty good and very cheap replacement for such an expensive audit.

For example, if I did an audit of your Shopify store, it would include all the recommendations from these guidelines + insights that I would find with deeper research and analysis.

This is why if you buy access to the guidelines, you can actually solve the main problems on your site.

If you apply all these recommendations, then in 90% of cases (because ~90% of Shopify stores are absolutely not optimized), you will have increased sales and conversions.

That would be a great foundation. And after that, you can invest more in CRO, hire a specialist and do an in-depth analysis to optimize your store even more.
