#1: Do you have clear and understandable category names?
Simple and clear category names always usually better than creative one. If you get creative with naming your categories, it can be confusing for shoppers, as a result they will not understand which products you sell there.
  • Keep it simple. Avoid creative namings. Be direct, so customers will easily understand it;
  • Avoid adjectives. Use them only when it's absolutely necessary (i.e. "Best Sellers", "New");
  • Keep it short. Don't use more than 1-2 words.

Let's look at controversial example from GoodAmerican website:
They have a category called "Plus", which is not absolutely clear what is it. I think that if they call it name "Plus size" it will be much more clear.
Good example from Leesa:
All category names are very simple and understandable: Mattresses, Bases, Accessories.
