#26: Do you show additional product pictures on mouse hover? (relevant for desktop devices only)
The more product information you show, the easier it will be for shoppers to choose the right option. That's why it's useful to show the second product picture when shoppers hover over product items. It will reveal more visual information about a product.
What to show in additional product picture:
  • In general, you need to show the product from the "other side" in order to provide additional useful information about it.
  • Additional product pictures can show other angles or facets of a product;
  • Additional product pictures can show product in more detail, product can be enlarged so shoppers will see specific attributes of it
  • Additional product pictures can show cdifferent variations of a product.

Bad example from AllBirds:
They don't show additional product pictures on hover over a product card, but instead they could show product picture where someone is wearing it
Bad example from MVMT:
They do nothing with product pictures when I hover over a product item, but they could show "product-in-use" where someone is wearing this watch.
Good example from LuxyHair:
They show product-in-use when I hover over a product card
Good example from Gymshark:
They show anothe side of the shorts when I hover over it
Good example from Cupshe:
They show a product from another side, so that shoppers understand how the product will look on them both in front and behind
